Sunday Pick Me Up (July 11, 2021)

Last Sunday, Small World‘s Eco-Heroes visited Hisaya Odori Park to clean up the city!

Over 50 of you wonderful Worldies managed to collect 54.5kg of trash in just one hour! We even found a TV! 📺

Wow! That’s bananas 🍌

Anyway, every month, we present a simple and easy way for you guys to reduce your waste and live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. This month’s Eco-Habit is…

Toothbrushes! 🦷

Plastic toothbrushes were created in the 1930s, and the rate of toothbrushes made, used, and thrown away is increasing every year. Most toothbrushes are made of mixed plastic types, and are impossible to recycle. It’s estimated that nearly every plastic toothbrush created still exists somewhere on the planet 😮

So how can we keep our teeth beautiful and clean and still protect the environment! 🤔

BAMBOO! 🎍It’s not just fun to say, it’s also a fantastic material to make toothbrushes with. The whole Small World team has been using them for years! Bamboo is biodegradable and doesn’t have any of those nasty nylon bristles that are super harmful to wildlife ☺

Next time you hit the store to buy a new toothbrush, consider getting a few of the wooden variety 😉

Super easy.

We want to say thank you so, so much for participating and helping us to keep this city clean. Keep spreading the word, tell your friends about our activities, Like and Share with the #SundayPickMeUp hashtag, and let’s set an example for the rest of Japan!

That’s it from the Small World gang! We’ll see you next month for the next Sunday Pick Me Up! 👋
