Springtime is here at LAST and boy, what a beautiful day it was to do a Sunday Pick Me Up!
Over 70 (!) of you guys came out to Hisaya-Odori Park where we managed to collect over 55kg of trash in just one hour!
Amazing!
So it’s time for this month’s Eco-Habit!

Socialise Your Stuff!
Stuff. We have a lot. And we keep getting more. Amazon, Rakuten and Daiso make it so easy to keep buying more and more STUFF. Buying stuff means we are engaging in the cycle of using resources, manufacturing products, packaging them, transporting them, and later disposing of them. All of this contributes to climate change.
We need to break the cycle.
When thinking of buying something, ask yourself, “how often will I use this?” If the answer is maybe once or twice in a blue moon…
I want to challenge you to “Socialise Your Stuff”!
Instead of buying something NEW, BORROW from the people around you. One less item bought means one less item produced, packaged, transported and disposed of. When you socialise your stuff, you’re also engaging with your community, creating connections and learning to support one another. This is exactly what Small World exists for and this is why this Eco-Habit is one of my favourites

We’ll be back on April 10 for the next Sunday Pick Me Up, and because the weather is getting better, it looks like we’ll be able to start hosting the Post-Pickup-Picnic again!
If you’re looking for something fun to do before the next SPMU, next weekend we’ll have our first party of 2022, Back to Reality on March 26 with Pop Up Palooza at Eight / Mothra, and then we’ve got our 2022 Hanami Party on April 2, which is also Small World‘s 3rd birthday!
I’m so excited for Spring!
See you next week!
– Matthew
