Spring has sprung and with warmer weather on the horizon, we’ve been itching to host our outdoor events again. However, a string of rainy weekends has put those plans on hold. One of these dampened plans was our regular Sunday Pick Me Up, which we had planned to hold in Kanayama last Sunday.
We usually like to wrap up SPMU with a group lunch at a local spot, and I’ve been excited to bring everyone to Callejera Garage/Stand. This place popped up during the pandemic and they’ve been serving up some great Mexican food and craft beer. Nagoya could definitely use more Mexican joints, and Callejera really hits the mark, with a unique and chill vibe. I’ve been keen to host an event there ever since I attended a Pop Up Palooza event a couple of years back.
So, we decided to turn our post-pickup lunch into a free party to introduce the Small World gang to Callejera and vice versa. And man, it was a good time. Callejera’s cool style set the tone for the event and made it feel different from our usual hangouts. We named this laid-back event ‘Beats & Eats‘. Callejera sorted out the eats, and SW regulars Keigo and Leaf Motif, and Kello provided the beats. We even had a surprise appearance from Frontier at the end of the night.
Seriously chill vibes and definitely something I’d like to do again.
Big thanks to everyone who showed up, to Keigo, Leaf, Kello and Frontier for the tunes, and to Callejera for hosting us on a rainy Sunday. We’re looking forward to coming back.
See you all this Friday at NIGHTFALL!
