Well, this was a big one.
On Saturday we hosted a collab party with our friends at Pop Up Palooza, The International Party Plus. We knew we really wanted to push what we were capable of so we pulled out all the stops and I think we threw the best event of the year so far. I’m not kidding, this party was next level, totally off the chain, a real step up.
I think some people in the community think that there’s some kind of rivalry between Small World and Pop Up Palooza, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Jon and I get on real well, we support each other and man, is it fun to work together on events. Over the years, we’ve hosted New Year parties, we’ve done Underground at Eight (which was low key one of the most fun eras of recent years) and finally, we hosted our flagship event together. Pure excellence.
We decided that we we’d get both of our resident DJs, Keigo and Kello on the decks, and we’d invite a heavy hitter, Juunin, as a guest DJ. Each of them absolutely smashed it, and it was really good to finally get some Latin grooves at this long-running event. Keigo also convinced me to recruit some VJs, which I’d never done before so I gotta be honest, I was a little skeptical, but good Christ, these guys really added a level of production quality that I could not have anticipated. Big thank you to Ryo and Masato for showcasing their incredible skills at this event.
This was the biggest and most varied turnout we’ve seen in recent months, and I want to thank all of you for bringing all of that love and energy with you, the entire club was ROCKING. I am very proud to be part of this community and to be able to create experiences for you to enjoy. Just take a look at the incredible shots that Jim’s taken for us, you can practically taste the excitement.
