Autumn Leaves (December 10, 2023)

Autumn is here (or is it winter now??) and just like every year, we took a quick trip up to Gifu to see the beautiful leaves at Yoro Park. This was our fourth year visiting the park and as always, a huge group of people joined us on this super wholesome trip!

Autumn Leaves is like a snapshot of the year. Attendees are a collection of those who have been attending Small World events for years, those who are new to the group this year, and one or two newbies who are likely to attend many more in the future. It’s a distillation of the feel and character of the community each respective year. I always look back on the photos of this event fondly, remember old friends and appreciate the new ones. I encourage all of you to do the same! Many of the friends you make at events like this will define your experience here in Nagoya.

This event is so straightforward that I’m often surprised at how successful it is. It’s a perfect example of how with the right community, any activity can be an absolute blast. Jump on a train, grab some lunch, walk up a hill and go down again. Nothing fancy, no frills – but it works.

Inspired by the consistent success of this event, we’ll be hosting many more quick and easy trips out of town next year. Keep your eyes on the page for more updates!

Thank you everyone for attending Autumn Leaves!
